Why All 284 of Our Units Are Drive-Up (And Why That Matters in August)

August in Indio doesn’t mess around. We’ve had afternoons this month well past 110, and nights that never got comfortable.

That’s the backdrop for a question we hear all summer: does drive-up access really matter, or is it just something storage places brag about?

It matters. On a hot day it matters more than almost anything else.

Every one of our 284 units is ground-level drive-up. You pull your truck or trailer right up to the door, roll it open, and load. No elevator. No shared cart. No pushing a dresser down two hundred feet of interior hallway while you sweat through your shirt.

Our manager has watched thousands of move-ins here. His rule of thumb is that a drive-up load takes about half the time of an indoor one. In August, half the time is the difference between a manageable morning and a trip to urgent care.

The other piece people don’t think about until they’re standing in it: an indoor facility means your stuff sits in a hallway, then a doorway, then a truck. Three handoffs. Drive-up is one. Fewer trips means fewer chances to drop grandma’s mirror.

Our gate opens at 6AM every day and stays open until 8PM. We tell people to use that first hour. Load at 6 or 6:30 while it’s still in the 80s and you’ll be done before the sun gets mean. Plenty of our contractors and landscapers do exactly that — they’re pulling tools out at sunrise and back on a job site by 7.

A few honest words about what drive-up doesn’t do. These are not climate-controlled units. If you’re storing a wine collection, a grand piano, or original artwork, we’re not the right fit and we’ll tell you that on the phone. But for furniture, tools, patio sets, seasonal decorations, business inventory, tile, retail stock, or a garage’s worth of stuff you need out of the way — drive-up is the practical answer, and it costs a lot less.

Speaking of cost. A 5×10 runs $50 a month here. A 10×10 is $95. A 10×20 is $136, and a 10×30 is $276. First month is a dollar, and we lock your rate for twelve months so you’re not getting a surprise letter in March. Everything is month-to-month. You can see the full list on our rates here.

We’re at 82521 Market Street, right in Indio, which puts us a short drive from most of the valley. Folks Help Us Keep Doing This

If you’re a current tenant, or if you’ve stored with us in the past, the biggest thing you can do is leave us a Google review or tell a friend. That’s it. That one review or one recommendation does more for us than any ad we could buy.

We’re not going anywhere. Thirty years down, and we plan to be here for thirty more — same location, same family, same commitment to the lowest prices in Indio.
